Too Much on the Inside optioned for Film

I'm so thrilled and happy to be able to share this news: My first novel, Too Much on the Inside has been optioned for film!

I've always dreamed of seeing my characters and their stories on screen. Too Much on the Inside in particular has always felt cinematic to me, especially with all the specific parts of Queen St that appear in the book. I was so thrilled when Heidi Lasi of Pelee Entertainment got in touch with me over the summer. She does amazing work, and I'm so grateful for her enthusiasm about the book-and I can't wait to be able to tell you more. (here is the official word for now, with much more information to come)

Pelee Entertainment Options Danila Botha’s Too Much on the Inside

Danila Botha’s Book Excellence Award-winning novel, Too Much on the Inside, has been optioned for film or episodic series by Pelee Entertainment. The 2015 novel, published by Quattro Books, is set in early 2000s Toronto and follows a year in the life of four twenty-something immigrants whose lives intersect on Queen St West. Guernica Editions will be releasing Botha’s third short fiction collection, Things That Cause Inappropriate Happiness, in 2024 and her second novel, A Place for People Like Us, in 2025. Founded by award-winning producer and writer Heidi Lasi, Pelee Entertainment embraces the inspiring and transformative power of storytelling and the strength of diversity. The company produces drama, documentary, and branded entertainment for television, theatrical, and digital release
